Coaches
Ann Margaret Baird is a swim coach and founder of Swim LoCo. Ann started Swim LoCo after successfully coaching, teaching and managing at several swim schools in the Loudoun and Prince William Counties. She helps individuals of all ages become water safe, learn to swim, and improve on strokes and techniques. She has also trained/certified hundreds of lifeguards over the past few years and takes great pride in educating and developing young swim coaches.
Prior to coaching, Ann spent over 15 years in advertising, but found herself wanting a more rewarding role outside of the corporate world. She spent the majority of her youth in the pool, either on year-round swim team, diving or yes, even synchronized swimming! She even has a record from 1980 in the 8yr and under freestyle that still stands today.
While Ann Margaret continues coaching all kinds of levels, ranging from toddlers to triathletes, this role as Head Coach for the Manta Rays is something she is super excited about and feels it’s the next most rewarding challenge in her swimming career.
Hi, I'm Levi Avalos and I will be an Assistant Coach this year! I am a rising Junior at Independence High School. I have been with the Manta Rays since the beginning. I was a Junior Coach last year and loved the experience. Outside of swim, I enjoy hanging out with friends and running track. I can't wait for this new swim season!
Hi! I'm Marissa Beahm. Swimming has been a lifelong hobby of mine and I have been in summer swim teams since I was 8. I started at Loudoun Valley Estates and then switched to Martin's Chase the first year it's swim team opened. I was a Junior Coach last year and loved being able to work with the kids to help them grow and enjoy swimming. Some other activities I enjoy are art, marching band, and spending time with loved ones.
I'm Joanne, I'm 16 years old and I go to Independence High School. I have been swimming since I was 3. I do club swim as well as Indy swim and summer swim. This will be my first year as Assistant Coach for the Manta Rays. I have gone to many big events such as All-Stars and Junior Olympics. Outside of swim, I love to do crew and hang out with my friends.
Hi! I'm Grace Machen and I am going to be an Assistant Coach for the Manta Rays! This is my 4th season being on the team. I swam the first 2 years and Junior Coached last year. I have been active in the team since the beginning! Some activities I enjoy are playing volleyball and hanging out with friends! I can't wait for this great season of swim!
Hello! I'm Sahasra, I'm 14 years old and I'm a rising sophomore at Independence High School. I've done club swim for multiple teams and have been on the Manta Rays for 4 years. This will be my second time being a Junior Coach for Martin's Chase and I'm beyond excited to see some amazing swimming from the swimmers this season. Outside of swim I enjoy marching band, debate and dance.
Hey! I'm Justin Sherman and I am a rising Junior at Independence High School. This summer, I will be the Lifeguard for the Manta Rays. This will be my first season working with the swim team and I am so excited! Some activities I do and enjoy throughout the year are running track and playing basketball. I cannot wait to see y'all this summer!
